 Updates:
We just made an offer on another condo. We'll see what happens. Looks like the market may pick up a bit since the recent news is that rates will go up further and inflation will possibly be increased 2.5% by the end of June.

In other news, we had our "poker" party which ended up being a boardgame party instead. Sheri's team won by 2 in a heated battle! New folks to the party Jeff and Cheryll (http://jeffandcheryll.com) were welcome additions as they proved to be kick*ss Taboo players!

Other than that, just more dancing, more house hunting, and more practicing (we have competitions coming up in July .. two of them in fact!)

Where's Chi these days ? Need a joke from him ... have you ever seen his pride and joy?

We just made our first offer on our house.

Which was rejected. I'm sure I would have too . It was a bit out of our price range for Pasadena. Even though we qualified for over that amount, we have been doing our best to be disciplined in staying within our monthly budget to get a house. It's going to be tough.. prices are high in Pasadena.

I think that's one common misconception about affording a house. It's not the down payment that gets you but the monthly payments after.

For our loan/price range, an additional down payment of $10,000 only gets us an extra $50 off the monthly payment (which over the life of a 30 year mortgage is about $18,500 total, meaning $8,500 in interest (tax deductible interest).

Okay... life and random thought over. A house-hunting we continue (hopefully with a place large enough to put in a hardwood floor !!!)

 Journal? Or Random Thoughts?

Ahh.same thing..

So we're now seriously looking to buy a house. Even though it may not be the best time considering it's a total seller's market out there. As a reference point, one condo we looked at listed at $340K (and the agent said they had offers higher than that on it) in Pasadena is in the same complex and is the same model as one purchased by our friend over a year ago for $200K (and offered at $150K).

*sigh*
